Educational background: PhD Economics, MA Actuarial Science, MA Statistics.
Lluís Bermúdez has a PhD in Economics and an MA in Actuarial Science from the University of Barcelona, together with an MA in Statistics from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. His current academic position is Full Professor in the Department of Economic, Financial and Actuarial Mathematics at the University of Barcelona; he is also a member of the ‘Risk in Finance and Insurance’ Research Group (Riskcenter-IREA).
His research mainly focuses on risk quantification, actuarial pricing models and assessment of bodily injuries. Published works in leading journals include, among others: Accident Analysis and Prevention, Insurance: Mathematics & Economics, Journal of Risk Research, Computational Statistics & Data Analysis, Scandinavian Actuarial Journal and Astin Bulletin. He received the ‘Premio Internacional de Seguros Julio Castelo Matrán’ (2004) for the best study about insurance, awarded by Fundación MAPFRE.
He is currently Director of the Postgraduate Degree Course in Risk Management at the University of Barcelona.
