The Faculty of Economics and Business to welcome 200 researchers for the ITEA Annual Conference and School on Transportation Economics
The Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB) will host the International Transportation Economics Association (ITEA) 2017 Annual Conference and School on Transportation Economics that will gather 200 international researchers. Both the Conference and School will be carried out at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona between June 19th and 23rd, 2017.
Through its annual conferences, the ITEA thrives to promote the development and application of transport economics by stimulating scientific excellence and policy-relevant research, fostering advanced education as well as interactions between research and transport related policymaking. A two-and-a-half-day intensive School, bringing together the most prominent researchers in the field of transport economics and students from all around the world will kick off this 2017 edition. From June 19th to 21st, attendees will receive an introduction to academic research and recent advances in transport economics through lectures and tutorials.
A conference will follow on June 21th-23th. The keynote lecture will be given by Professor Jacques-François Thisse, from the Université Catholique de Louvain. Moreover, 149 papers covering both theory and empirical work will be presented. Topics will range from transport pricing and investment, competition policy, transport decisions under uncertainty, agglomeration effects, valuation of intangibles, privatization, the economics of new transport technologies, to the political economy of transport decisions. At the end of the event, the best overall paper and the best junior paper will both be awarded.
