UB School of Sociology researcher Marta Soler elected European Sociological Association president

The UB School of Sociology researcher Marta Soler has been elected president of the European Sociological Association during the ESA Conference 2019 in Manchester. She will hold the presidency of the association until 2021. Marta Soler was awarded a PhD from the Harvard University. She is also the president of the Catalan Sociological Association.

The UB School of Sociology researcher is a member of the Research Group in Sociological Theory and Social Impact of Research (TSIR) at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona. Her research interests include inequality (Poverty and social exclusion; Social, cultural and economic inequalities) and Culture, knowledge and innovation (Social innovations and social impact; Social organisation of knowledge, science and technology).

ESA is an academic association of sociologists and a non-profit Europe-wide association made up of 2,800 members. It was established in 1994-95. It aims to facilitate sociological research, teaching and communication between sociologists and other scientists, and to give sociology a voice in European affairs.
