Brunel University in West London is a higher education institution with nearly 15,000 students and 1,770 academic and related staff. The University comprises of 8 academic Schools and 7 Specialist Research Institutes, conducting research ranging from social sciences to engineering to health and social care. As a research-intensive university, Brunel is currently coordinating four FP7 EU projects: HiPerDNO (ICT-Energy), 3D VIVANT and UbiPOL  (ICT), ERINA4Africa (Infrastructures) and CEES (IAPP project). It is also a partner on several projects in “People” and “Cooperation” (ICT, NMP, SSH) FP7 programmes, and on CIP-IEE-2009,  eContentplus – ICT-PSP,  Clean Sky and Intelligent Energy Europe programmes. Within 2006 – 2009, Brunel has secured more than £7 M in European funding.

The current project will be carried out by Brunel Law School, which attained the status of a fully-fledged independent School within the University structure in 2006. Brunel Law School is one of the UK’s leading research intensive law schools, with acknowledged expertises specifically in the areas of commercial law and international trade law. The School has achieved a rating of 5A in the Research assessment exercise (RAE), and the result of the  RAE 2008 rated 90% of Brunel Law School’s research as being of ‘international quality’, and 50% as either ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’, Staff from the School are active participants in two FP7 SSH Coordination and Support Action (EurasiaNet and Counter).
