Who is Hannah Arendt? How about Simone Weil? Who is Hildegard von Bingen? Until very recently, such questions were met with genuine ignorance. Nowadays these names spark interest, curiosity, and even true passion and recognition. Still, can the same be said about Rachel Bespaloff, Jeanne Hersch or Helene von Druskowitz? How about Moderata Fonte? And Sarah Koffman? There is no surprise if in such cases the lack of recognition persists…

We are celebrating that the Philosophy and Gender Seminar turns 30! Since the beginning of the nineties, a group of professors and students at the Universitat de Barcelona began an enthralling experience driven by the questions “where are women philosophers?” in a context in which no one heard about them. The Philosophy and Gender Seminar has been carrying out archive research, text interpretative analysis, translations, volume editions and workshops, and organizing activities for both academia and non-specialized public for 25 years. The purpose of such work has been to bring forth these dedicated and intense women thinkers and have them conquer academic and non-academic spaces, granting them the visibility and resonance they deserve.
