Research Lines:

I develop basic research to describe patterns of variation and variability in paleolithic stone tool assemblages through experimental protocols, 3D scanning and statistical models. In this line, I am specially focused in the analysis of covariation between shape and size attributes and reduction intensity of cores and retouched tools. Furthermore, the application of these models to archeological contexts and delving in aspects such technological evolution, assemblage formation processes and site functionality is a main goal of my research.

My fieldwork projects focus on the origins of AMH in North Africa through the excavation of Middle Stone Age sites in the Aïn Beni Mathar – Guefaït basin (Jerada, eastern Morocco), and in the Neanderthal – AMH substitution in southwestern Europe. For the late, I am conducting regular excavations in the littoral environments of NE Iberia including some late Middle Paleolithic and early Upper Paleolithic sites like La Griera, Cova Foradada, Cova del Trader and Cova Gran de Collbató (Catalonia).
