The Kash Mittal Lecture
The International Symposium on Surfactants in Solution (SIS) in Barcelona in 2002 is the 14th meeting in this biennial series of conferences. Starting as a small symposium in Albany, NY in 1976, the SIS meeting has grown both in size and prestige and has become established as one of the major events in colloid and interface chemistry. The SIS symposium series was founded by Dr. K. L. Mittal, who has acted as general chairman of all the events, working in conjunction with a local organizer as co-chairman.
In recognition of his many contributions to the field of colloid and interface chemistry, and on behalf of the global surfactant community, we decided to inaugurate the Kash Mittal lecture as a tribute to him.
The first Kash Mittal Lecture will be delivered immediately after the opening ceremony of the SIS 2002. The Kash Mittal Lecturer will be selected in advance by a committee and will be announced in the First Circular of each future SIS Symposium. The lecturer selected will receive the Kash Mittal Award at the meeting.
The Award Selection Committee is formed of: Nissim Garti, Krister Holmberg (Chairman), Dinesh O. Shah and Conxita Solans.
