Summer courses

Catalan summer courses organized by the University of Barcelona are open to university students and to all adults with an interest in the language. Classes are held in the UB Sants Building in different periods between June and September. Some courses run for 80 hours and others for 40 hours. Students enrolled in the courses can take the exams leading to official language certificates issued by the University Barcelona.

Basic (A1-A2)

If you are starting to learn a language, there is nothing better than an intensive course that you can take during the summer. The course runs from 27 June to 22 July, with 4 hours of class every morning and cultural activities in the afternoon, to help you discover Barcelona and Catalan culture. You will meet people from all around the world with different motivations and interests and you'll discover much more than just a language.

Elementary (B1)

If you can already get by in Catalan, but you want to give your skills a boost, these small-group courses will give you the opportunity to progress at a good pace. From 27 June to 21 July, the sessions are Monday to Thursday, from 5.30 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. You'll soon improve your ability to express yourself in everyday situations. In addition to scheduled classes, you’ll be offered the opportunity to join a conversation group to strengthen your speaking skills.

Intermediate (B2), Advanced (C1) and Proficency (C2)
Information in Catalan and Spanish

Advanced courses are designed to further your knowledge of more formal spoken and written Catalan, to teach you to use Catalan in professional environments, to develop independent language use, and to give you the tools to adapt your language to different situations. These courses start in June and end in September, with a break in the middle.
