I am an Associate Professor in the group of Self-Assembled Materials and Self Organized Complexity, from the Section of Physical Chemistry in the Department of Materials Science and Physical Chemistry, at the University of Barcelona. I am also a member of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the University of Barcelona.

My current research activities involve experiments on soft condensed matter systems, such as active protein suspensions, organic monolayers, and liquid crystals.
You can find more information and presentations in the research section. References to papers are available in the publications section.

Background

My research background is in the study of structures and dynamical properties of soft systems. I earned a PhD in
Physics from the University of Pittsburgh, where I pursued studies in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, with research on pattern formation in complex fluids.

Later on, I was a postdoctoral member in the Laboratoire de Physique from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, conducting research in the formation and dynamics of structures in liquid crystals, in the Soft Matter grup, under the supervision of Patrick Oswald.

In a second postdoc, I  was a member of the
Department of Chemisty in Tulane University  in the Surface Chemistry group, under the supervision of Dan Schwartz (now at U.C. Boulder). My research involved the study of microrheology of Langmuir Monolayers.
