Jordi Roca Jusmet is the coordinator of the book “La responsabilidad de la economía española en el calentamiento global” that has just been published by the editorial Los libros de la Catarata (Madrid). Mònica Serrano is one of the others co-authors. The book examines the evolution of greenhouse gas emissions in Spain from 1990 to the present. The main conclusion is that Spain’s contribution the global climate change is disproportionately higher compared to its actual share in the world population. Moreover, if international trade flows are accounted for, the increase of Spain’s greenhouse emissions during period of the economic growth is found to be significantly higher compared to the one reported by official sources. The book also links the emissions to the different household expenses patterns. Lastly, it analyses the share of each Autonomous region in the total greenhouse gas emissions from a novel perspective.
