An excellent place to study!

The UB has a proud tradition stretching back over 560 years. It now has some 90,000 students, 5,247 lecturers and researchers, 6 university campuses and 19 faculties and publishes 3,723 journals and periodicals. It is among the foremost universities in Spain, with one of the largest student populations, a wide range of courses and extensive research and innovation output. The UB is the only Spanish university in the exclusive A++ category of the URAP ranking.

The Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona is home to 10,000 students and 600 lecturers and researchers and publishes some 400 scientific articles a year. It is a leading centre for teaching and research and forms part of an internationally important hub of economics research in the Barcelona area. The University of Barcelona is the third highest-placed Spanish university in the URAP’s field based ranking for Social Sciences.

The staff and students of the Faculty of Economics and Business have access to a comprehensive range of services and facilities that meet their diverse daily requirements: a network of libraries and resource centres with the largest catalogue of any Catalan university, dedicated seminar rooms, access to extensive language learning options and the largest network of sports facilities in the city.

Living in Barcelona

Accommodation

If you are going to study in Barcelona you will probably need to find accommodation, unless you already live in the city or the surrounding area. The UB’s Student Support Service (SAE) can advise you on how to make accommodation arrangements when you get to Barcelona or before you arrive.

The Universityof Barcelonaoperates its own halls of residence and has agreements with a number of affiliated residences around the city.

Moving around

Barcelona and its metropolitan area boast an excellent public transport system, considered one of the best in Europe. TMB, the metropolitan transport authority, operates two permanent transport networks (metro and bus) and offers a range of leisure services. In addition to the metro, bus network and tram system, Barcelona has the ‘Bicing’ bicycle sharing system, a simple, practical and sustainable service for moving around the system.
