Information
for Visiting researchers and professors from Romania and Bulgaria
In Spain, the transitional period established in the Treaty of
Accession will be of a maximum of two years as of January 1, 2007, the
date on which Romania and Bulgaria were admitted to the EU. Once this
two-year period has passed, Spain shall apply the EU’s regime of the free
circulation of workers to Romanian and Bulgarian employees; until such a
time, however, it shall continue to be necessary for visiting researchers
and professors from Romania and Bulgaria to apply for work permits.
