Official recognition of a university qualification involves accepting that a course passed abroad is equivalent to one that leads to an official Spanish degree.
From the date on which the official recognition document is issued, the foreign degree has the same status throughout the Spanish state as the corresponding Spanish academic qualification.
Current legislation gives rectors of Spanish universities the authority to officially recognise foreign higher education qualifications as equivalent to a Spanish doctoral degree.
Consequently, the University of Barcelona has established an internal procedure to regulate this
process. The procedure begins when the interested party sends an application to the UB Rector,
along with the documents indicated in the
Internal
Procedures of the University of Barcelona with regard to the validation of university degrees
awarded abroad as equivalent to a doctorate degree.
