Publication of doctoral theses

Photograph of books and a cap

A set of procedures must be carried out on completion of a doctoral thesis and before its defence. These procedures are described in the Regulations for the preparation, defence and evaluation of doctoral theses.

Once a doctoral thesis has been defended, it is disseminated and made available for consultation through publication in two places:

  • TDX (Theses and Dissertations Online).
This digital repository is supported by the Consortium of Academic Libraries of Catalonia (CBUC). It contains doctoral theses that have been defended at the UB and at other Catalan universities. The aim is to disseminate research results from Catalan universities via the Internet. The TDX is a tool for thesis authors that increases the visibility of their work and facilitates access to it, as it provides the full-texts of their theses online.
  • Teseo Database
This database is managed by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. It contains information on all of the doctoral theses that have been defended and approved at Spanish universities since 1976.
