Introduction

The bachelor's degree in Linguistics at the University of Barcelona provides training in the nature of the human capacity for speech, the characteristics of language as a communication system, and the relationships between language and discourse, culture, society and technology.

The bachelor's degree in Linguistics at the University of Barcelona aims to reflect on language from the perspective of the diversity and complexity of all aspects of languages: spelling, syntax, grammatical analysis, phonology, phonetics, semiology, dialectology, lexicography, grammar, semantics, sociolinguistics or philosophy of language. It provides knowledge of the different contemporary linguistic theories, with the corresponding theoretical and methodological assumptions, as well as thorough professional training in the various facets of human language, encouraging specialization in a specific area of linguistics. It allows students to attain the necessary skills and abilities to practice the profession, while also enabling them to gain a strong command of specific languages. Professional linguists work in the fields of language consulting, media, translation, teaching and editorial services.
