Introduction

Master's degree in Oceanography and Marine Environmental Management: an interuniversity master's degree for graduates looking to specialize in marine sciences.
The master's degree in Oceanography and Marine Environmental Management is an official postgraduate degree offered by the UB and the UPC to graduates in experimental sciences and engineering who wish to specialize in marine sciences, either for professional purposes or as preparation for doctoral studies and a research career.
This master's degree replaces the former programme Marine Sciences: Oceanography and Marine Environmental Management, which was offered between the academic years 2007-2008 and 2012-2013. The degree is the preferred qualification for accessing the doctoral programme in Marine Sciences offered jointly by the UB and UPC.

Learning objectives

The master's degree in Oceanography and Marine Environmental Management offers a range of theoretical and practical subjects designed to achieve two main objectives: a) the application of knowledge acquired in previous studies to marine science, and b) the acquisition of additional complementary knowledge, from the field of oceanography and marine environmental management, pertinent to further professional or research activities. The programme emphasises the close connection between knowledge and fundamental research and its role in addressing and resolving specific environmental problems related to the marine environment.
