The Research in Applied Economics Network announces its Workshop on Economics of Education, which for 2010 is titled "Determinants of education attainment and competences’ acquisition".

The aim of the workshop is to analyse the role of competence acquisition in educational production by bringing together original research papers, particularly those including data taken from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) project. Although priority will be given to empirical research, theoretical papers may also be presented.

The accepted papers (approximately 8) will be presented in plenary sessions that will complement the keynote presentations by Danielle Checchi, from the University of Milan, and Michael Fertig, from the ISG Institute in Cologne.
