During the first three weeks of July, the UB organises a new edition of the International Summer School (UBISS). The international summer courses are open to the general public.

Twelve international courses on environment, bioscience, health, cultural heritage, and current political and social affairs will be given in Spanish and English, which will allow students to combine high-scientific training with an interactive experience and international mobility. All courses last a week and will be delivered in the Historic Building of the UB, in the city centre of Barcelona.

Teachers have different professional backgrounds (academic, social, political and economic) and come from different geographical areas, which will enable to tackle the subjects in a multidisciplinary way and with a high degree of specialisation, turning UBISS into a privileged place to create discussions and generate ideas.

UBISS, promoted in 2009 by the Office of the Vice-Rector for the International and Institutional Relations, is another example of the Universitat of Barcelonaʼs efforts to modernise and internationalise the academic activity. The twelve international summer courses offered in this new edition confirm the steady steps taken towards the consolidation of this activity.

Registration can be done online (www.ub.edu/ubiss), by telephone (944 035 880) and, from the 23rd of May on, at the Secretaryʼs office for UBISS (UBʼs Historic Building, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 585). Members of the university community of the UB (students, administrative and service staff, and teaching and research staff) can get a discount on the registration fee.
