On 12 May at 19:00 took place the exhibition opening event, which was attended by the artist and the vice-rector for Arts, Culture and Heritage of the UB, Dr. Lourdes Cirlot.

The exhibition by Ángel Orensanz at the UB takes place in two different areas: on the one hand, the entrance hall of the Historic Building will hold a selection of sculptures and reliefs; on the other hand, at the garden of the Historic Building textile elements will be installed which will interact with the natural surrounding. The exhibition that will be held at the entrance hall will be on until the 27th of July, whereas the installation at the garden will be open to the public until the 14th of September.

His works of art can be seen in different cities around the world. Some of his works can be found in several public areas in Barcelona, for example, the large mural relief at the Zona Universitària metro station or the sculpture Speed Bird,at the entrance of the Barcelona International Airport. Orensanz uses several formats and elements, and his works are exhibited in museums, public spaces and natural sites in cities such as London, Tokyo or Moscow. In 1992 he promoted in New York the foundation that bears his name and that has become an emblematic meeting point and an exhibition place for the visual arts in this North American city. Among many other institutional awards, the artist was registered in 1996, along with E. Chillida, G. Manzù and H. Moore, at the Albo dʼOro of the International Academy of Modern Art in Rome; in 2001, the Florence Biennale of Contemporary Art paid homage to his career and, one year later in Spain, he was awarded the Gold Medal by the Academy of Fine Arts.

In general terms, his art often focuses on the “event” as a means of expressing his very personal discourse and doesnʼt fall into the conventional categories or the usual interpretative keys. Conceptually, the thematic corpus of his artistic narrative is generally based on a constant dialogue between dichotomies such as construction/deconstruction or order/chaos.
