The rector, Dr Dídac Ramírez, attends the III Universia International Presidents Meeting, which takes place on 28 and 29 July in Rio de Janeiro. The meeting more than one hundred and two hundred institutions. The future of university will be analysed as well as its ability to answer the demands of the 21st-century society.

The motto of this third edition is “The University of the 21st Century. An insight from Ibero-America”; it continues the debate set up on the meetings that took place in Seville, in 2005, and in Guadalajara (Mexico), in 2010. The meeting concludes a participation process which has lasted more than twenty months and took place on internet and social networks.

Discussion will be focused on how is university seen today and if it meets studentsʼ needs; universitiesʼ organization, governance and funding will be also analysed, and some achievements and figures regarding university internationalization will be exposed.

Universia is the largest university network in the world. It gathers nearly 1,300 universities from 23 countries. It is supported by Bank Santander through its Santander Universities Global Division.
