For those students who are not Catalan speakers but they want to profit their stay in Barcelona to know more about Catalan language and culture, the Language Services of the University collect many resources to learn this language on a website.

The website has information about the Catalan course for beginners, which has an intensive version that takes place the first 15 days of September or it can be completed during the academic year. In any case, the course is subjected to academic recognition. Then, students interested in continuing improving their skills in Catalan can enrol other more advanced courses. Offerings of Catalan courses are wide and it can be also learnt at the self-access language learning centres. Moreover, the website gives information about different online resources to learn Catalan, for instance the Catalan survival course for university students Speakc@t and the multimedia Catalan course Parla.cat.

In addition, the first intensive course on Catalan language and culture addressed to international students is offered in September. This course is organised by the Vives Network and supported by UB.

Finally, in order to know how to say words and phrases that are commonly used at the University, online multilingual university phrase books are available.
