Inter-university degree in Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences

The first Spanish inter-university bachelorʼs degree in Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences is offered next academic year. It is an initiative led by UB and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), by means of the University School of Hotel Management and Tourism (CETT-UB), the Food and Nutrition Torribera Campus of UB (in Santa Coloma de Gramenet), the Barcelona School of Agricultural Engineering (UPC) and Alícia Foundation. The degree joins academic experience and knowledge of several university centres on their different areas of expertise: food, nutrition and dietetics, agro-food science, science of cooking and gastronomy. Besides its inter-university condition, the new degree is pioneering in the model of public-private collaboration and the participation of cooks and professionals from the agro-food industry in its design.

The main aim of this new inter-university degree is to provide future graduates with a suitable training in those areas related to science and technology applied to cooking and the economic management of cooking; it also includes other recent subject areas such as consultancy, gastronomic heritage promotion, communication and research. The new degree will be taught at CETT-UB facilities, but it will also include other activities that will take place at participating university centres.

Degree in Security

The other new degree that UB offers is the bachelorʼs degree in Security. From 2014-2015 academic year, the Institute of Public Security of Catalonia (ISPC), located in Mollet del Vallet, is affiliated with the Faculty of Law of UB.

Double degree in Pharmacy and Human Nutrition and Dietetics

UB offerings for the next academic year include the double degree in Pharmacy and Human Nutrition and Dietetics. The Faculty of Pharmacy offers students the possibility to study the degrees in Pharmacy and Human Nutrition and Dietetics in a simultaneous way. These degrees will be taught at both UB campus of international excellence: the Barcelona Knowledge Campus (BKC) and the health campus of the University of Barcelona (Health Universitat de Barcelona Campus, HUBc). The double degree is based on the close relationship that exists between these two subject areas as they share some competences.

This double degree increases to ten the number the number of double degrees that UB offers: Audiovisual Communication - Information and Documentation; Law - Business Administration and Management Law - Political and Administration Sciences; Law - Public Management and Administration; Economics - Statistics Mathematics - Business Administration and Management; Mathematics - Computer Engineering Mathematics - Physics, and Early Childhood Education - Primary Education.

Master's degrees

Concerning master's and postgraduate degrees offered by UB's faculties and centres and the courses offered by the Institute for Lifelong Learning (IL3-UB), the University offers four new master's degrees for the next academic year: Medical Anthropology and Global Health; Advanced Studies in Social Exclusion; History and Identities in the Western Mediterranean (15th-19th centuries), and Medicine, Health and the Healthcare System.
