Recently, the UB was also the only Spanish institution ranked amongst the top 200 universities in the world according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2014 (ARWU).

The QS World University Rankings evaluate the quality of research and teaching, graduatesʼ employment index and facultiesʼ international projection, among other indicators.

Regarding the indicators used to elaborate the ranking, UB improves its position in nearly all of them, particularly in employer reputation (it rises to position 151, thatʼs a 42-point climb) and citations per papers (it rises to position 293, thatʼs a 20-point climb), an indicator that evaluates the international impact of research.

Concerning the five broad faculty areas established by the ranking, UB improves its position in every field and continues being ranked among the top 100 universities in the world in Arts and Humanities, Life Sciences & Medicine and Natural Sciences.

The UB consolidates and improves its position in other international rankings

The QS World University Rankings complement UBʼs good results in other international rankings in which it has consolidated its leadership or improve its position.

The UB is the only Spanish institution among the top 200 universities in the world, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), a classification also known as the Shanghai Ranking.

The UB also consolidates its position as the top Spanish university according to the annual SCImago Research Group (SIR) ranking, which analyses research outputs of worldwide institutions. The UB is number 152 in the world according to the SIR Global 2014, which is a 12-point climb from last yearʼs list; it is only surpassed by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

The classification URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance) highlights the UB too. URAP classifies top universities according to fields of knowledge. The University of Barcelona is among the top 25 universities in the world in Archaeology and History, and it is also highlighted in Chemical Sciences (it occupies the position 55).

Other aspects highlighted for the last months are: the information provided on the website and its performance. According to the latest edition of Webometrics (Ranking Web of World Universities), the website of the University of Barcelona is ranked second in Spain, 34th in Europe and 131st in the world. These results complement those obtained in other classification focused on websites, the 4ICU (4 International Colleges and Universities). According to this list, the UB improves its position and becomes the second university in Spain, the 18the in Europe and the 124th in the world.
