First, the jury selected 10 projects out of thirty-two submitted proposals. Then, they chose the project Balance Diet, by the nutritionist Patricia Garrida, as winner. The project is an online communication system between the patient and the doctor to control, manage and assess diets and food intake. The jury emphasized its innovative character, accurate business plan and excellent success perspectives, as well as its probable economic and sociosanitary impact on society.

Moreover, the jury conferred the second prize on David Hart and Joan Riera, both graduates in Business Administration and Management from the UB, for the project Código Nuevo, a new online media addressed to people between 18 and 34 years old that publishes daily online articles on the website www.codigonuevo.com divided into different categories: current affairs, life, money, sport, entertainment, music, humour and videos. Company's headquarters are in Barcelona. The jury highlighted project's effective use of information technologies and its sociocultural impact.

The jury was chaired by the secretary of the BIE, Lluís Bermúdez, and composed by Miquel Amorós, Jaume Valls, Carme Verdaguer and Isabel Vidal. They particularly considered projects' business plan viability and sustainability, their degree of impact and innovation, entrepreneurs' level of involvement and knowledge, and the management of cost and resources, among other aspects. Prizes (5,000 euros for the first prize and 3,000 euros for the second) must be allocated to the development of the business plan.

The BIE is an initiative of the University of Barcelona and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation that gathers the different programmes and activities developed in the field of entrepreneurship by the agents included in the UB Group. In other words, it is tool owned by the UB to promote and develop the entrepreneurial activities.
