The team composed by Alba Carrión, Guillermo Prados, Jormary Jackson, Pablo Arvelo and José Silva, students of the masterʼs degree in Reservoir Geology and Geophysics at the Faculty of Geology of the University of Barcelona (UB), was placed second on the international competition EAGE Field Challenge, which took place on 1 June in Madrid during the annual meeting of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE).

The competition promotes the integration of geoscience and engineering knowledge at universities. UB students competed with students of China University of Petroleum (China), Dalhousie University (Canada), OMSK State Technical University (Russia), Heriot-Watt University Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and AGH University of Science and Technology (Poland). To be exact, UB students made a brilliant English exposition of the project “EAGE Field Challenge 2015 of Oil&Gas Tree Team”, which analyses in deep the research on hydrocarbon resources within the area of Geology. The first prize was awarded to the team from Dalhousie University (Canada).

It is important to highlight that the UB team improved oral presentation skills thanks to the support provided by the coordinators of the oratory project OraToga-UB, Bàrbara Pastor and Cormac Walsh. Training in speaking skills was provided on different workshops based on method OraToga, within the institutional project fostered by the Office of the Commissioner for Multilingualism of the UB.
