Moreover, the University of Barcelona, the University of Illinois and the University of California have agreed the renewal of the programme Study Abroad, a project started four decades ago. It was the first exchange programme created in Barcelona. The renewal of the agreement will allow that, every year, eighty students from both American institutions take a course at the University of Barcelona. Students attend seminars about intercultural communication, social and political history, language contact, contemporary art, Barcelona and its cultural context, Spanish cinema, the Quixote, among many other issues, and they participate in Catalan language courses and cultural activities.
