UB, new member of the International Council on Archives

From July, the University of Barcelona (UB) is member of the International Council on Archives (ICA), a non-governmental organization that promotes the use and conservation of worldʼs archive heritage, within a collaboration agreement with the UNESCO.

Set up more than 60 years ago, the ICA gathers around 1,500 institutions and professionals from 195 countries concerned with the administration or preservation of archives. The aim of the ICA is to promote the management and use of records and archives, and the preservation of the archival heritage of humanity around the world, through the sharing of experiences, research and ideas on professional archival and records management matters, and on the management and organisation of archival institutions.

Thanks to the membership, the UB will provide and receive specific knowledge to protect and enhance its extensive documentary heritage and to make it available for the society.
