The University of Barcelona, upset for the death of thirteen students in the accident at Freginals
The University of Barcelona would like to show its consternation for the traffic accident which took place in early morning hours at the motorway AP7 at Freginals (Tarragona), as well as express its condolences and solidarity towards the families of the thirteen students who have lost their lives.
The victims had gone to Valencia on a trip organized by the Erasmus Student Network, which has its headquarters at the Faculty of Economy and Business. They were travelling in one of the five buses taking the trip and assigned to UB students.
We feel deeply sorry about the loss of these youngsters and we really appreciate the signs of support we are receiving from the citizens. The University of Barcelona would like to join the two official days of mourning ordered by the Generalitat. The flags at the Historic Building have been lowered to half mast.
On Monday, the 21st of March, at noon, the University of Barcelona will take five minutes of silence in front of the Historic Building as a memory for the victims and will set up an area of mourning for the victims at the hall of the Historic Building.
