More than a hundred companies and entities participated in the XI Business Forum, organized by the Faculties of Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics and Biology. The event took place on Wednesday May 4, in the Physics and Chemistry building. It was aimed to the more than 7.000 students of the degrees coursed in the organizing Faculties, which include 16 bachelor degrees and 36 master degrees. According to the organizers, the business demand has increased in the last editions and the demanded profiles have been extended in the new bachelor degrees.

More than a hundred companies and entities participated in the XI Business Forum, organized by the Faculties of Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics and Biology. The event took place on Wednesday May 4, in the Physics and Chemistry building. It was aimed to the more than 7.000 students of the degrees coursed in the organizing Faculties, which include 16 bachelor degrees and 36 master degrees. According to the organizers, the business demand has increased in the last editions and the demanded profiles have been extended in the new bachelor degrees.

This event, which is in lots of cases the first contact between the students and the business world, offers the opportunity to contact businesses of specific areas of every hosting Faculty, as well as other areas such as technology consulting, engineering, education and research. Several spin-offs will also be present in this activity, some of them born in the UB.


At the same time, there were be activities organized by the companies in order to seek future candidates. These activities were cafès col·loqui (conferences), networking group sessions with 10 chosen students who organize the companies Cimworks, Cronos Group Ltd, Ernst & Young Giesecke & Devrient and Roche, and presentations such as the ones by the Ducth TMC International, Schlumberger group, or the Waste Agency of Catalonia.
 

The meeting between students and businesses may drive into a chance of an internship; international practical agreements, or even job contracts. Another important factor the Forum offered to students is the training in business-related skills, such as creating and handing a good résumé, preparing a good job interview, etc.
