The social aim of universities and the intregation of refugees, main topics of the 3rd Arab-Euro Conference on Higher Education
The social aim of universities, including factors such as the refugeesʼ integration or contribution to interregional dialogue and conflict solving- are the topics the 3rd Arab-Euro Conference on Higher Education (AECHE) will cover. The event will take place at the University of Barcelona from the 25th to 27th of May, and it will gather around 200 participants, among which there will be the Rectors and other academic representatives from Arabic countries and Europe. The opening ceremony, presided by the Rector of the University of Barcelona, Dídac Ramírez, will include the participation of Sultan Abu-Orabi, general Secretary of the Association of Arab Universities (AARU), Lesley Wilson, general Secretary of European Association of Universities (EUA) and the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau.

AECHE is a joint action of AARU and EUA, promoted by the University of Barcelona, which takes the permanent Secretary. AECHE is an association seeking to promote dialogue, mutual understanding, knowledge exchange and a greater cooperation among Arabic and European universities. The first AECHE conference took place in the University of Barcelona in 2013 and the second one in Amman (Jordan) in 2014.
