From July 2015 to March 2016, the University of Barcelona doubled the received funding by the Programme Horizon 2020, going from a bit more than 10 million euros to the nearly 20 current ones. Regarding the number of projects, during this period of time the University has gone from having 35 to 58 approved projects, and this means an increase of almost 66%. The UB directs 10 out of all the accepted projects, and three of them are individual ERC projects, while 7 of them are collaborative.  Moreover, there are eleven individual projects within Marie Sklodowska Curie actions. In addition, there are other projects obtained by the research staff of the UB through the research institutes which participated for the University and which have not been accounted here.

Since the beginnings of the programme Horizon 2020 (2014-2020), CE has closed more than 150 calls of more than 1,300 funding topics. There are currently 23 open calls for 201 funding topics and 46 waiting to be open, which include 298 more topics.

The good results gained up to now by the University are shared among different centres of the University. The Faculty of Physics is on top of the list with more accepted projects, being it a total of 15. The Faculty of Chemistry follows Physics with 12 accepted projects, and then there are the Faculties of Biology and of Economics and Business- with 5. Furthermore, the Faculty of Education (including the Learning and Research Resources Centre, CRAI) and Faculty of Psychology have obtained 4 projects and the Faculty of Mathematics, 3.
