Model courses, new proposals

The courses from Els Juliols program have a 20 hour length, and these hours are distributed over a week, either in the morning or the afternoon. With teachers coming from different fields, both university and professional, public and private sectors, the offer is structured in four main blocs: Arts and humanities, Social Sciences, Resources and Strategies, and Natural and Health Sciences.

The twentieth edition of the courses brings some courses back —the ones which got successful participation in other editions, such as the ones related to research and stem cells clinics, philosophical thinking in the three main Asian states, tecniques of neurolinguistics programming for self-improvement and the one on mindfulness, the ones related to entrepreneurship, Chinese medicine, political thinking and tours to discover Barcelona historically and artistically.

Current affairs, social interest and multidiscipline are also the main connectors of all the programmed courses for 2016. The most highlighted are the ones dedicated to child abuse, welfare construction, cinema and historic memory, economy and energy models in current society, international cooperation roles in conflict resolution and the refugeesʼ drama. There are also courses about the controversies provoked by the nutrition-health binomial, about pain, medicine and science seen by literature and TV series, about wine and the wide range of products made from grapes, about the impact of the climate change on the vineyards, about the gold rush and river prospecting, and even about the Catalan rumba.

Most of the courses in Els Juliols take place in the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona. The others, depending on their characteristics, are taught in the cities of Alella, Badalona, Hospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí, Terrassa, Vilafranca del Penedès, and specially in Cornellà de Llobregat, where between July 6 and July 10 there will be four courses within the 8th edition of the Universitat dʼEstiu de les Dones (Summer University of Women).
