Xavier Varea, Director of the Complimentary Training Area of the University of Barcelona, values positively the course of the Els Juliols, consolidated as one of the best options to learn during the summer since “they knew how to adapt to the changing reality of these twenty years. We have changed from being an exclusively university summer school to jumping into society opening the University to people of Barcelona, also in summer. Our commitment has been to bet on research and knowledge carried out in the UB to be transferred to society in order to articulate university to people”.

The starting point of the event, at 17.30 h, is the recording of a special  two-hour program El Fricandó Matiner, by Vador Lladó, which will be released the following day in the morning at the habitual time of this program (between 6 and 10 h) in RAC105.

At 18 h, in Ramón y Cajal room of the Historical Building, there will be the book presentation for Els Juliols de la Universitat de Barcelona. Vint anys dʼhistòria, organized by Professor Carles Carreras, founder of Els Juliols -twenty years ago, with prologue by the rector, Dídac Ramírez.  The book has nine chapters written by different lecturers and PAS members of the University that had a distinguished participation. The event will be chaired by the rector Ramírez with the participation of Doctor Carreras and Xavier Varea.
Around 19.39 h, the castellers group Els Arreplegats of the Zona Universitària will offer a human tower exhibition. They are a group formed by university students from Barcelona. This group, which has more than a hundred castellers, was founded in 1995 by a group of students willing to practise their human tower interests in a university atmosphere and it aims bringing people from this world closer to the university castellers community.

At 20 h, when the human tower exhibition ends, in order to close the ceremony, the musical band Doctor Prats will offer a concert and present their new album Aham sigah. This band, which this month appears on the cover of the Enderrock magazine, is formed by Josep Jaume Rey (electric guitar and backing vocals), Miki Santamaria (bass and backing vocals), Oriol Cors (drums and backing vocals), Mark-e Riera (lead vocals and guitar), Víctor Martínez (keyboard), Guillem Boltó (trombone and backing vocals) and Ramon Figueras (trumpet and backing vocals).

Also, there will be an instagramers meeting in which there will be the participation of eight students of the University of Barcelona who are active in Instagram, and were previously selected through a contest. They will be the ambassadors of the University, and two instagramers from Barcelona with a great amount of followers. They will enjoy a guided visit in which they will visit some areas which are usually closed to the public so that they can take pictures of unknown places of the University. The aim is that they publish the best instant pictures of the event tagging #concursinstaUB and @UniBarcelona.
