The agreement between the two institutions was signed on June 16. Dídac Ramírez, Rector of the University of Barcelona, and Robin Gravina, Head of Development of Cambridge English Language Assessment in Spain and Portugal, representing Saul Nassé, Chief Executive of Cambridge English Language Assessment.

The University of Barcelona will hold the Cambridge English exams for the First, Advanced and Proficiency certificates, corresponding to the levels B2, C1 and C2. These are the most known English certificates given by the University of Cambridge, and they are the most demanded in the world of universities and business. They will now be available to all the university community in the University of Barcelona.

Dídac Ramírez pointed out: “Within the Complimentary Training Area we see languages, and mostly English, as an essential skill for our studentsʼ success in their professional careers”. “We are proud of giving the chance to get these worldwide known certificates”, he added.

Robin Gravina said that “We are proud of having University of Barcelona, first Spanish university ranked in the QS World University Rankings 2015-2016, among the higher education centres that offer our exams to their students. The fact that they can take the exams at the same university shows the commitment of the University of Barcelona with the students and their professional and academic future”.

The Cambridge English examining centers, now with the University of Barcelona being a part of them, take care of the administrative organization and the development process of the exams in the same centre. To carry these tasks out, there is a strict protocol and relationship with the University of Cambridge.

Cambridge English is member and founder of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) and gives certificates that acknowledge the level of English according to the established levels in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: from B1 to C2, the most wanted levels. Moreover, their certificates are academically accepted by the Conference of Rectors of the Spanish Universities (CRUE). With this agreement, the University of Barcelona highlights their commitment with the academic and professional future of their students, since the Cambridge certificates are accepted as a level test of the English language in more than 20.000 institutions, among universities, companies and official organisms around the world.
