Referent courses, new proposals

The courses of Els Juliols have a length of 20 hours, covering a week, with morning or afternoon sessions. With lecturers from different areas, both university and professional, public and private sectors, the program is built in four blocs: Arts and humanities, Social sciences, Resources and strategies, and Natural and Health sciences.

The 20th edition of the courses takes some of the courses that had more participation in previous editions, such as the ones dedicated to research and clinics in stem cells, philosophic thinking in the three great Asian States, or to Mindfulness, as well as the ones dedicated to the entrepreneur wold, Chinese medicine, Political thinking or Routes to discover the city of Barcelona in its historical and artistic fields.

Current affairs, social interest and multi-discipline are also the focus of the 2016 courses. The ones that stand out are dedicated to culture and art, such as a course on the Editing process of a novel, another dedicated to Llull, Gaudí and Dalí, one analyzing Dadaism and others dedicated to jazz or Catalan rumba. There are courses representing historical events, such as the one about Ten days that moved the country (the Titanic sinking or 11S), or one on Urgency of sub-Saharan Africa in a bipolar world. Els Juliols program does not leave behind the courses related to experimental sciences and there are courses on neuro-degenerative diseases and one about nanotechnology. Social sciences have presence too: social networks or forensic or juridical phonetics, these are some of the topics they cover.

Most of the courses of Els Juliols take place at the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona. The others, depending on their characteristics, will take place at the cities of Alella, Badalona, lʼHospitalet de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí, Terrassa, Vilafranca del Penedès and, specially in Cornellà del Llobregat, where between the 11th and 15th of July there will be four courses of the 8th edition of the Summer University for Women.
