Salvador Alemany chaired his last plenary session of the Board of Trustees of the University of Barcelona, in which he presented the account closing of 2015 and foundations of Grup UB. He finishes a four-year mandate that started on April 4, 2012, when he was appointed by the Catalan government. When commenting on his mandate, he has received the greetings and thankfulness of the Minister of Business and Knowledge, Jordi Baiget, and the Rector of the University of Barcelona, Dídac Ramírez, as well as the general greetings from the Board of Trustees.

Salvador Alemany chaired his last plenary session of the Board of Trustees of the University of Barcelona, in which he presented the account closing of 2015 and foundations of Grup UB. He finishes a four-year mandate that started on April 4, 2012, when he was appointed by the Catalan government. Alemany (Barceolna, 1944) graduated in Economics at the University of Barcelona and holds a diploma by IESE in Economics too. He has been the President of Infraestructures Abertis since 2009 and Infraestructures Saba since 2011, entities with which he has been linked since 1998 and 1987. He is owner of the bank foundation La Caixa, member of the Economical Table of the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona and President of the Sponsorship Council of the theatre Gran Teatre del Liceu.

Among his previous activity, regarding institutional areas, some stand out: he was President of the Circle of Economy (2008-2011), President of the Advisory Council of Catalonia Economic Reactivation (CAREC) of the Generalitat de Catalunya (2011-2015); and President of Red Cross in Barcelona. Regarding sports, he was President of the Basketball Section in FC Barcelona and Vice-President of the sports club during 1986-2003. He was also co-founder of the basket Euroleague.

The new current President, Joan Corominas, is also President of the Council Finance Committee, to which he has been linked for the last fifteen years. He is an industrial engineer by the UPC and IESE diploma holder. President of the Familiar business group, he is member of the Banc Urquijo Council, Nexica and PSS Group, as well as member of the Board of Directors of Egarsat. He was President of the Insurance Sabadell Group; member of EY Spain Council and member of the Board of Directors of the Circle of Economy. Up to this moment, Corominas was Vice-President of the Board of Trustees of the University of Barcelona.

According to the article 67 of the Statute of the University of Barcelona, the Board of Trustees is the participation organism of society at the University and organism related to University with society. According to the current legislation, he will have to supervise activities related to economy and performance of the university services, as well as promoting society collaboration in its finance. The president is appointed by an agreement from the Catalan government, for a four-year mandate that can be only renewed for the same amount of time.
