Publishing research results in a single platform and enabling open access to the scientific performance carried out in Catalan universities are the main objectives of the new Research Website of the Catalan Universities, an initiative driven by the General Directorate for Research of the Secretariat for Universities and Research of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government) and coordinated by the Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya (Consortium for University Services of Catalonia, CSUC).

The new website, which was started in 2012, has been available since October and it aims to promote the projection of the research carried out in Catalonia (researchers, publications, research group and projects) regarding the international scientific community, businesses, financial organizations and public in general, easing the open access to scientific performance. It also aims -in the long run- to simplify management processes and support assessment in research. The website aims to use the work done by the universities in their research management (CRIS) and these works are expected to bring improvements in the management of information of each institution. All of this is done by defining agreements of data regulations, getting information through standard formats (Current Research Information Systems, CERIF) and interoperability protocols, through common identifiers that avoid ambiguity (for example ORCID for researchers) and favouring the open access to the scientific performance and the use of institutional repositories.

The researchers of the University of Barcelona who want to appear in the Website for Research of the Catalan Universities have to fulfil the following requirements: having an ORCID code on their résumé and carry out some of the research activities appearing on the mentioned website (publications, theses, projects, research groups, etc).
