The Faculty of Economics and Business inaugurates the Alumni Wall
The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona, Elisenda Paluzie, on November 14, inaugurated the first plaques of the project for the Alumni Wall. The names of the first forty-four students who made donations to the center were engraved in one of the halls of the Faculty. The first call to collect donations was done last February.

The names of the first forty-four students who made donations to the center were engraved in one of the halls of the Faculty. The first call to collect donations was done last February.
With this new funding, 6.375 euros have been collected and will be used on projects for research, internationalization and infrastructure improvement. In particular, these first contributions have been used to fund a grant for a Greek PhD student, Athina Raftopoulou, who is working on a thesis about obesity and social inequality in Spain. Raftopolou is studying the economic and social factors that influence peopleʼs risk of suffering from obesity, aiming to shape the creation of public policies that are focused on fighting this disorder. This kind of wall is very common in several universities, such as the Eastern Washington University, the Rochester Institute of Technology, the University of Alberta, one of the biggest in Canada, or Adelphi University, in New York.
Also, the Dean presented the new website, through which donations can be done, with the aim of easing future contributions.
In the UB, among the donors, there are known people such as Andreu Mas-Colell, former Minister of Economy; Josep Piqué, former Minister of Industry; Salvador Alemany, former President of Abertis; Ramon Tremosa, Member of the European Parliament; Pere Aragonès, Secretary for Economy at Generalitat de Catalunya; Mar Raventós, President of Codorniu; Joan Hortalà, President of the Barcelona Stock Exchange and former Dean of the Faculty of Economy and Business; Dídac Ramírez, former Rector of the University of Barcelona; Joan Tugores, former Rector of the University of Barcelona and former Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business; Ramon Adell, Vice-President of the Spanish Confederation of Directors and Executives (CEDE) and Promotion of Employment; Joaquim Silvestre, Professor of the University of California-Davis; Roser Fernández, former Secretary-General of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and Georgina Arderiu, former Secretary of Treasury of Generalitat de Catalunya.
