Dr. Ramon Salazar, retired professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the University of Barcelona, received the Gold Medal of the Faculty in the event of the patronal festival of the Faculty, held on December 13, chaired by the Dean Joan Esteva de Sagrera.

Professor Salazar, founding member of the Spanish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (AEFI) and member of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Catalonia (RAFC), was the founder of the masterʼs degree course of Business Management for Pharmaceutical Industry in collaboration with AEFI and the Col·legi de Farmacèutics de Barcelona (Pharmacy School of Barcelona). Author of several books and scientific publications, Salazar had strong bonds with the pharmacy business and has collaborated as professor and coordinator of the study validation area in the category of Industrial and Galenical Pharmacy at the University of Barcelona.

In this event, the Pharmaceutical Collection Uriach Foundation 1938 was opened, and will be exposed in the hall of the B building until April 6, 2017. The medals of the Faculty of Pharmacy were awarded to professors Rafael Codony, Montserrat Gallardo, Pilar Giner, Esther Marín, Pilar Martín Barea and M. Isabel Vázquez; and the Pharmanews-Federama Awards —under the coordination of the Professor Elena Escubedo, from the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutic Chemistry— to honor the experts Maria Font-Quer, Robin Wijngaard and Enrique Rodríguez. The students Arnau Pastallé, Ferran Belart, Joan Campo, Maria Balaguer and Joana M. Catany were given the award of the first edition of Farmacoenigmes, a contest driven by the Commission of Language Policy of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences and the Language Services of the UB.

The activity, which included the conference “Dieta, Salut i Comunicació: reflexions” given by the nutritionist Magda Carlas, ended with the performance of the Pharmacy Choir, supported by Laboratoris Salvat.
