The design by the student Maria Nikolaenko wins the 11th contest of the UB Folder

Maria Nikolaenko, student of the bachelor degree in Industrial Relations, is the winner of the UB Folder 2017-2018 Contest with her proposal Aquarel·la UB, after having obtained 1.856 votes, a 35% out of the total (5.314). Nikolaenko, who had not entered the contest in previous editions, said she wasnʼt expecting the first prize. “My mother told me there were designs she liked better than mine” she said. And added that “what I find the most exciting is that next year thousands of students will carry my folder design under their arms”.

The award ceremony took place at noon at the Ramón y Cajal room in the Historical Building of the UB, and counted with the participation of Alba Ambròs, vice-rector for Students and Language Policy, and Xavier Tur, manager for Web Development. The vice-rector expressed her gratefulness for the participation, both to students and the jury who chose the finalists, and reminded the attendants that next year there will be 70.000 printed folders with the design that won today. Also, Xavier Tur went through the history of this contest and showed the different styles that have won each of the previous editions of this contest.
 

In this eleventh edition, the jury selected eight designs out of the 68 participating ones that were received. The eight finalists were voted for by the university community. The second prize was for Beatriz Zaplana, student of Business Administration and Management, with the design Puzzle de la vida, which got 1.136 votes, and the third prize was given to Unidiversitat de Barcelona by students Maria Molano and Maria Carretero, from the bachelor degree of Biochemistry, which received 698 votes.
 

The other finalists were, ranging from less to more voted for: Fotosíntesi Universitària (553 votes), by the student of Design Marina Subirats; Blau Barcelona (506 votes) by Eva Calza, student of Social Education; Geomètric (430 votes) by Candela Lozano, student of Fine Arts; Reflexions al voltant del pupitre (82 votes) by Xavier Méndez, student of Social Work, and last, Puzzle (53 votes) by Lina Anfel, student of Geography.
 

The winner received 1.000€, while the second and third finalists got 300 and 200 euros respectively, and all other finalists received 100€. Also, all participants received a certificate of participation, finalist or winner of the contest.
