The University of Barcelona gets high scores in the biggest data analysis competition of Spain

The team Random6, formed by Alexandra Abós and Xisca Pericàs, from the University of Barcelona, won the Cajamar UniversityHack 2017 in the category of Microsoft Predictive Modelling. The team Visual Miners, formed by David Solans, Biel Stella and Ignasi Pérez, from the UB, got the second position in the category IBM Card Analytics. UniversityHack is considered to be the most important big data competition in Spain. Thirteen universities and 130 teams took part in this edition, which ended on April 6.

The team Random6, formed by Alexandra Abós and Xisca Pericàs, from the University of Barcelona, won the Cajamar UniversityHack 2017 in the category of Microsoft Predictive Modelling. The team Visual Miners, formed by David Solans, Biel Stella and Ignasi Pérez, from the UB, got the second position in the category IBM Card Analytics. UniversityHack is considered to be the most important big data competition in Spain. Thirteen universities and 130 teams took part in this edition, which ended on April 6.

In the category of Microsoft Predictive Modelling, the teams had to predict the probabilities of having a customer getting a financial product -using anonymous variables from private clients of the Cajamar Group. In IBM Card Analytics, the activity consisted of creating the best application and or display based on anonymous data from card transactions in the city of Valencia, with real data provided by the Cajamar Group during the years 2015 and 2016.

The Carlos III University of Madrid, winner in the second category, the University of Valencia, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Universidad Europea de Madrid got a high score in this competition too.
