M. Eulàlia Juvé, lecturer from the University School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has been appointed member of the Board of Directors of the International Council of Nurses, becoming the first Catalan and second Spanish member of this institution.

The ICN is a federation with more than 130 national nursing associations that represent millions of worldwide professionals. ICN works to guarantee quality treatments for everyone and health policies at a global level.

Doctor Juvé will be the representative of Area 5 in ICN, which covers the countries from Eastern Europe. Over the four years of the mandate, Juvé thinks that “there are some aspects that need some intervention, such as the advanced practice with the nursesʼ working environments, patientsʼ safety and the unfolding of information systems in different countries worldwide, to make the nursing practice more visible”.

M. Eulàlia Juvé is a lecturer in the Department of Fundamental Care and Medical-Surgical Nursing at the University School of Nursing and is the director of the Research Group of Nursing in the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL). She created ATIC terminology, a nursing language that has been used in the Catalan public hospital for ten years. Moreover, she is the Nursing Coordinator in the Catalan Health Institute.
