Antimicrobial resistance in pathogens is one of the biggest threats in the world. The amount of isolated bacteria that present resistance to drugs used to fight them has increased over the last decades. As a result, the number of active antimicrobial agents has reduced and the search for new approaches in this field has become a priority for the main health organizations.

The amount of isolated bacteria that present resistance to drugs used to fight them has increased over the last decades. As a result, the number of active antimicrobial agents has reduced and the search for new approaches in this field has become a priority for the main health organizations.

In this context, from the 10th to the 14th of July, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB will hold the first edition of the Eurolife Summer School, which is focused on research and innovation in the field of microbial drug resistance. This course, organized jointly by the UB and ISGlobal, has the participation of twenty-two speakers and thirty-five PhD students from thirteen different countries, member institutions that are part of the Eurolife network.

The opening ceremony counted with the participation of the Vice-Rector for Research of the UB, Domènec Espriu, the Rectorʼs Delegate for Research Strategy Actions and Eurolife chairman, and the organizer of the course, Jordi Vila, Director of the Antimicrobial Resistance Initiative in ISGlobal and UB Professor.
