·         I guess you already thought of getting high marks to enter university when studying at high school.

Rubén: Yes. When you look at the entrance marks you realize the required marks are high, in my case. Therefore you try to make an effort to get there. You start this path to get there successfully.

Júlia: I always think that when you have the chance to study at high school, to go to school, you have to benefit from it and make an effort. I wasnʼt going for a very high mark because I knew the required mark for the studies I wanted to enroll in was not high. It was more about the personal satisfaction and knowing you worked for it and then you got good results.

·         Why did you choose these studies?

Júlia: I am good at languages, and I like literature… I chose this degree because it combines languages and literature, and therefore I didnʼt have to rule out one of them, they were together in the same degree. I like grammar and finding out how languages work. What I like about literature is to link it to people. See how something that happened at a certain moment of history is then reflected in books, in different literatures…

Rubén: I like maths. When they show something and you think “wow, thatʼs right”, I like that. At first I thought about studying only Mathematics. But when I was in upper high school I began to see the marks and realized I could get to study this dual bachelor degree…I like abstract mathematics. But I also like them applied to things. And applied to physics to understand that everything that surrounds us is fascinating, such as the perfect balance.

·         In what professional fields are you most interested?

Júlia: Iʼd like to see me in the editing field. As a language consultant, reader, translator… But some task related to this, to the books and the editing world. Also, I think studying this bachelor degree is a way of fighting for culture, which is being left out due new technologies.

Rubén: I like research but I also like teaching. I think I would go more for university teaching.

What are your expectations regarding the university?

Júlia: I donʼt know. I think I will find some more freedom and will go deeper on those things I like to study.

Rubén: Just by going to the Faculty of Mathematics, the Faculty of Physics… thatʼs a way of being more autonomous. I think we will learn a lot and will enjoy it.
