The University of Barcelona is listed among the top 250 universities worldwide, according to the new edition of the ranking edited by the British journal The Times Higher Education (THE). The edition of 2018 of this international ranking, which includes 1.102 institutions from around the world, is led once more by the American and English institutions: the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), the California Institute of Technology (CalTech, USA), the universities of Stanford (USA) and Cambridge (UK), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA).

In the 2018 edition of THE ranking, Catalan universities hold the best positions once more in Spain. The University of Barcelona is the third on the list regarding Spain, preceded by Pompeu Fabra University (140th position)and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (147th position)
The UB, leader in Spain in Shanghai ranking and QS World University Rankings
The University of Barcelona is the top institution in Spain in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2018, holding the 156th position worldwide -and 64th in Europe- and also leading university in Spain in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), most known as Shanghai Ranking, in which is listed in the rank of 201-300.
Moreover, in the ARWU ranking divided in fields and disciplines, the University of Barcelona is among the global top 100 in fifteen disciplines, and in four of them the UB is among the top 50; in particular, in Public Health (30rd position), Clinical Medicine (43rd), Science and Food Technology (36rd) and Human Biological Sciences (44th).
