OAFI and the University of Barcelona collaborate on health professionals' training in the field of osteoarthritis

The UB, through the Pharmacology Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Osteoarthritis Foundation International (OAFI), signed an agreement with which both entities will collaborate in the training of health professionals, psychologists, nurses and physiotherapists, for the prevention and treatment of patients with osteoarthritis (old people, sportspeople, postmenopausal women and kids), so that they can provide their patients with the right tools to self-manage their disease.

The UB, through the Pharmacology Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Osteoarthritis Foundation International (OAFI), signed an agreement with which both entities will collaborate in the training of health professionals, psychologists, nurses and physiotherapists, for the prevention and treatment of patients with osteoarthritis (old people, sportspeople, postmenopausal women and kids), so that they can provide their patients with the right tools to self-manage their disease.

The Pharmacology Unit, led by Amàlia Lafuente, professor at the Department of Basic Clinical Practice, will collaborate with OAFI providing the training ability in the different fields both in pharmacology and lifestyle, so that the patient with osteoarthritis can manage the disease properly. With this agreement signature, the University of Barcelona joins the Osteoarthritis World Association, a network led by OAFI formed by associations of patients, medical societies, research centers and public administrations, among other agents involved in research and awareness of this pathology and the improvement of articular health of society. The agreement will help the development of professionals in knowledge, research and training on osteoarthritis.
