Violeta Moizé and Paola Quifer, students from the doctoral program on Food and Nutrition of the UB affiliated at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences, were awarded the CCNIEC-EROSKI awards given by the Catalan Center for Nutrition of the Institute for Catalan Studies (CCNIEC) to honor the best doctoral dissertations on nutrition and food. The student Pablo Hernàndez, from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) received the CCNIEC-DANONE award for his doctoral thesis. The award ceremony took place on Friday, December 15, at the headquarters of the Institute for Catalan Studies.

Violeta Moizé and Paola Quifer, students from the doctoral program on Food and Nutrition of the UB affiliated at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences, were awarded the CCNIEC-EROSKI awards given by the Catalan Center for Nutrition of the Institute for Catalan Studies (CCNIEC) to honor the best doctoral dissertations on nutrition and food. Violeta Moizéʼs doctoral dissertation -Effect of bariatric surgery on the prevalence of micronutrient deficiencies and protein status- was conducted under the supervision of Josep Vidal, lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB and director of the Clinic Institute of Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (ICMDM, Hospital Clínic), and the tutoring of Maria Izquierdo, lecturer from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the UB.


Paola Quider received the award for the doctoral dissertation Risk and benefits of beer and non-alcoholic beer moderate consumption on cardiovascular system, a study supervised by Rosa Maria Lamuela, director of INSA-UB and lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences, and Olga Jáuregui, from the Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona (CCiTUB).


Moreover, in the same ceremony, CCNIEC also awarded a quality award to Pilar Cervera, who had been director of the Centre for Higher Studies in Nutrition and Dietetics (CESNID-UB), for her teaching, academic and professional career in the field of nutrition and dietetics. The other awardees this year are Carlos Alberto González, who launched the Nutrition, Environment and Cancer Unit at the Catalan Institute of Oncology (7th Ramon Turró Award); the AMED Program of the Catalan Public Health Agency of Generalitat de Catalunya (7th CCNIEC Award to the best initiative on the improvement of nutrition or food education), and the company Granja Armengol (5th CCNIEC Marc Viader Award on innovation on food products).
