The audiovisual work Artífex de la desobediència: Un documental sobre creativitat feminista a Barcelona, directed by the former student of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Carme Gomila, with Lucía Egaña and Maria Berzosa, got the 31st Prize March 8 - Maria Aurèlia Capmany by the Barcelona City Council. The winner was selected out of the 37 proposals that were submitted in this yearʼs call, focused on “Dones creadores” (women creators).

This was not the only award given to representatives of the Faculty. The jury, formed by seven women from the cultural and political fields of the city, also distinguished with a special mention, the exhibition of audiovisual pieces “Supervivents. La violència masclista com a tema en lʼart contemporàni” by Elena Fraj, lecturer of Image.

Also, the audience award, decided by popular vote, was awarded to “Una mostra retrospectiva (25 anys) que projecta futur”, by the group FemArt, from Ca la Dona, with Dolors Pulido, from the administration and services staff, and Anna Fando, student at the Faculty of Fine Arts.

The ceremony took place on March 8, at Saló de Cent of Barcelona City Council, and was chaired by the city mayor Ada Colau.

Since 1987, every 8th of March, the Barcelona City Council has given the prize Maria Aurèlia Capmany to celebrate International Womenʼs Day. The ceremony promotes the participation and presence of women creators of the city in different cultural fields -arts, literature, cinema, music- aiming to increase creations with gender approach. Therefore, it aims to contribute to create new groups that promote fair gender relations among men and women. This yearʼs edition also aimed to promote the feminist critical thinking.
