With a high participation (more than two hundred students and lecturers), the University of Barcelona held the Second UB Batxibac Meeting on November 29, which was dedicated to French literature, and in particular, to travel writing and the travellers in the works by Blaise Cendrars and Michel Tournier.

With a high participation (more than two hundred students and lecturers), the University of Barcelona held the Second UB Batxibac Meeting on November 29, which was dedicated to French literature, and in particular, to travel writing and the travellers in the works by Blaise Cendrars and Michel Tournier.

The ceremony was presided by the vice-rector for Students and Language Policy of the University of Barcelona, Mercè Puig, together with the dean of the Faculty of Philology, Javier Velaza, and several representatives from the participating entities such as the Ministry of Education of Generalitat de Catalunya, the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE-UB) as well as some members of the Faculty of Philology of the UB.

Alicia Piquer and Marie-France Borot, lecturers of French Studies at the UB, gave two conferences on the theme, authors and selected books for the French literature test of 2015-2017. This year, the test will be focused on the theme of traveling and travellers in Mon voyage en Amérique and Le retour, by Blaise Cendrars, and in Vendredi ou les limbes du Pacifique, by Michel Tournier.

The dual study program Batxiller-Baccalaureát (Batxibac) offers high school students the opportunity to acquire both state degrees, and therefore, access higher education studies in both countries.
