The lecturer and scientific disseminator Jorge Wagensberg, born in Barcelona in 1948, died on March 3, aged 69. He studied Physics at the University of Barcelona, where he also got his doctorate.

Jorge Wagensberg combined his teaching career with a great passion for scientific dissemination. From 1971 to 2016, he taught at the Faculty of Physics of the UB. In 1991 he created the Science Museum of “la Caixa” Foundation and was its director until 2005. He also led the renovation of the project until it became the current CosmoCaixa, a model for science museums worldwide, with its headquarters in Barcelona and in Madrid. Also, Wagensberg was the author of several scientific papers edited in international specialized publications, apart from a wide range of scientific dissemination works.

In 1999, the journal La Universitat published an interview with Jorge Wagensberg, in which he stated “I think pedagogy is not a general theory to transmit anything; there is a transmission of stimuli. A good teacher encourages others, s/he motivates others”.
